While the elves tend to get the credit for the Arcane Matrix and the plane-shifting city, the Gnomish artificer’s guild are who designed and built the actual arcane mechanisms of the Matrix and the Pylons. The continued maintenance of these makes them a quiet power in the City Council to this day.

The gnomes of the old lands are first and foremost creative, and hold positions from arcane artificers to eccentric artists, and a couple self-made professions that have no easy name or description.
