The City's temple district, and the location of the Godhood
At the center of the Ghostwall ward lies the The Godhood where many of The City's gods reside. The rest of the ward is a mix of temples, shrines and inner-city residences, with a couple shops here and there dealing in services related to divine magic. The Ghostwall holds the residences of many of the rarer races of The City. For instance most of The City's Aasimar's reside in this ward (though they still form less than 1% of the inhabitants).
Under the ward lies The Necropolis where many of The City's dead are buried, and from which the ward get's its name. Even though the ward generally doesn't get any ghosts these days, thanks to the work of the Death Wardens.
The Black Road runs through the ward from Highhall through the Ghost Gate to the Black Ward.
Locations of Note
The Godhood
The godhood is located at the center of a large open square and takes the form of a large sphere of marble, half embedded in the ground. The square itself is mostly clear, in respect to the deities that dwell within, and is surrounded by temples and shrines and offices used by the deities and their priesthoods to conduct the business of worship.
- The Representative Oak: In the direction of Sovereign Park a green corridor of plants and trees leads from the square to the park. Where it reaches the square of The Godhood, there stands a large oak tree. It's dryad, Berden, speaks for Berdan in matters related to The City and the rest of the Gods.
Square of the Dead
This square is cobbled in black and white marble blocks, forming an uneven pattern. The square is dominated on one side by the entrance to the necropolis, a large gothic structure in black marble.
- Upper Necropolis: The large gothic building houses both the stairs that lead down to the necropolis, but also the funeral parlors of various priests to the gods of death, as well as the barracks and offices of the Death Wardens. There is a steady traffic through the doors, both to conduct the business of burial, but also families of the long dead coming to visit the graves below ground.
- White Covenant Hospital: A low overcrowded building to one side of the square houses the hospital of the Order of the White Covenant. The hospital treats anyone, for free, but neither their space nor their finances can keep up to demand, and the hospital has become known as a place the poor come before they die, as anyone of better means or health are turned away.
The Green Gate
The green corridor running from The Representative Oak to Sovereign Park pierces The Wall at the Green Gate. Here a 30-foot hole in the wall is held up by stout, crooked trees intertwining to support the remaining wall above. Though the animals of the park rarely venture into the Ghostwall ward, it is not uncommon to see a deer or fox stopping by the gate to peer in.
Though druids and followers of Berdan will use the gate to enter the district, most other inhabitants avoid it, preferring the longer route through Ghost Gate if they wish to visit the park, or travelling through Dragon's Tree if they need to go to the Green Remnant.Ghostwall
